The Life on board

Sailing has always entailed adaptability, helpfulness but, most of all, a big love for nature and outdoor life: however even those who are going to face this experience for the first time don’t have to worry. Obviously it is not like being on a cruise liner or in a hotel room but the boat has been built to offer the utmost comfort while the forced fellowship of people on board usually tends to turn into great friendship. Approaching an island and discovering it from the sea, for example, will give you an emotion that you can’t easily have without being on a sailboat.

In July and August the crew members will be in charge both of the coasting and the cooking. If the guests, as it often happens, become fond of operations, they may enjoy helping to frap or slacken the main sheets or taking the helm. Meanwhile those who are a bit lazier may relax sunbathing, reading, chatting and taking photos.

During the other months, instead, the skipper will always be busy cooking while the guests will have to help in the operations and the tidying up of the boat: this is a good way for enjoying completely the experience of a cruise, getting to know, at the same time, what a boat and the sea really are. The skipper will decide the routes according to the weather conditions and the guests’ well-being, suggesting the most interesting destinations, every time after a general agreement.

The chartering normally refers only to the cabin or, but only if more privacy and space is needed, to the whole boat; on the contrary, in August, the entire boat must be chartered. The fore cabin can host three adults or a couple with a child, while the other two cabins are double rooms: one with two separated (not bunk) beds and the other with a double bed.
The life on a sailing boat doesn’t require demanding clothing and, as the space is limited, we suggest light baggage (it frequently happens that too much stuff comes back home unused): T-shirts, swimsuits, trunks and shorts, a pair of boat shoes or trainers and another pair for excursions (sandals are ok), a waxed jacket for spring and autumn cruises, a sweatshirt and a terry towel, barrier creams and sunglasses. Everything must be inside a folding (not rigid) bag. Stiff cases and trolleys are absolutely out. You will find sheets and towels on board.

So… see you soon. Penne Bianche is waiting for you !!
