This North East Aegean cruise visits the first three islands of this area , true pearls of the Aegean Sea. They are scattered one after the other in a zigzag from the coast of Macedonia with Kavala to the Dodecanese with Samos, they are an ideal destination for a sailing cruise. We sail from north to south with fair wind and pleasant sailing to discover unique and beautiful places, different scenarios to breathe the true atmosphere of the Greek islands away from the most tourist routes.

Day 1:

Welcome on board Penne Bianche! Boarding will be at Porto Carras in Kavala where your amazing sailing holiday starts. You can rent the boat for exclusive use if you like more privacy and itinerary freedom or per cabin and share the sailing holiday with other travellers. You will get to know your crew that will show you the boat. Provisions will be already stored on board so you will be able to enjoy total relax. The luggage will be placed in the cabin before you start your sailing cruise in the North East Aegean Sea. After a short navigation we reach a protected bay for a quiet anchorage in Thasos.

Day 2:

We dedicate the day to circumnavigate Thasos. It is a large green island with tall pine trees having a white and straight trunk. These very good trees are used to build boats. Thasos boasts a high mountain in the center and all around there are white sandy beaches and pine trees often hanging over the sea. Thassos offers a view of Mount Athos to the west and conceals wonderful corners to explore among picturesque villages and beaches. Ideal place for all those who are looking for a peaceful and naturally beautiful environment. The island is in fact known as the “Aegean Emerald”. Thasos is known for its architecture consisting of houses with thick, white walls and slate roofs, with closed wooden balconies, authentic examples of traditional architecture as well as the different architectural and decorative elements from Epirus and Macedonia. The houses are surrounded by flower gardens or courtyards surrounded by low walls. Squares, narrow alleys and fountains complete the scenario. Gourmet cuisine on board: tagliatelle with seafood for dinner!

Day 3:

We set sail after breakfast and sail to reach the island of Samothrace (about 30 miles). The skipper organizes the itineraries according to the weather conditions and the well-being of her guests by proposing the most interesting destinations. The fair winds will help us to make a pleasant and fast sailing. Penne Bianche is an elegant, fast but highly stable hull that offers maximum comfort to lovers of sailing holidays. Samothrace is the most north-eastern island of the Aegean Sea, an island rich in history and archaeological sites. It boasts a unique nature in the whole Aegean. Its inhabitants are very hospitable and friendly towards sailing boats because they hardly see a large number of them, a rare situation now among the Greek islands.

Day 4:

We dedicate the whole day to discover Samothrace: its wild landscapes, the imposing Saos mountain with its over 1600 meters high, the Sant’Andrea lagoon, springs, waterfalls, small lakes, forests, traditional settlements of which Chora is the most important, thermal springs and also medieval monuments and the renowned archaeological site of Palaiopoli. His famous NIKE, the Winged Victory, is in the Louvre Museum but the charm of this mysterious island continues to live in the frame of a nature that is both sweet and wild. For lunch you can taste Brunella’s pizzas!!

Day 5:

We continue our sailing cruise in the North East Aegean. Sailing south we reach Limnos (about 30 miles) with fair winds that allow us to make a quiet and fun sailing. We anchor on the west side in Myrina, the capital. Myrina is a small town of 6000 inhabitants, an old outpost of the Genoeses who dominated these seas. It’s made of white houses but with red tiled roofs and flowered balconies. Everything is very clean and refined with the very friendly inhabitants. The island is one of the least publicized in the North Aegean and this has allowed the land to preserve its identity, culture and beauty.

Day 6:

We dedicate the day to visit the island. Limnos, of volcanic origin is quite mountainous, boasts large inlets and vertical cliffs. It’s the Aegean island with more coastal development respect to its surface. It is steeped in myths and legends, secluded and lonely with its even more unknown younger sister Agios Efstratios. It has a very fertile land, ponds with flamingos, impressive dunes, deserted beaches bordered by high cliffs. The island of Lemnos, of volcanic origin, is quite mountainous. Charming and authentic Limnos is a magical place with superb beaches, an uncontaminated landscape with coarse sand dunes that create spectacular scenery but also beautiful waterfalls. The land is fertile and the local people produce wine, honey and cheese, known since ancient times for their qualities.

Day 7:

Late in the morning the end of our North Aegean cruise. The 2020 cruise program continues south with the islands of the North East Aegean, other interesting places to discover on board Penne Bianche.
